Accolades & Honors

Shrewsbury Fire Chief James M. Vuona was given the 2014 Fire Chiefs' Leadership in Fire Education Award by the Massachusetts Association of Fire and Safety Educators. He was selected for his work in building safety education programs in businesses, schools and town offices.

EMC Corp. of Hopkinton was recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency with honors in greenhouse gas (GHG) management. The EPA cited the firm's GHG global reduction goal of 40 percent between 2010 and 2020. (State House News Service)

Curtis Industries, a Worcester-based compact vehicle cab enclosure manufacturer, was selected for the 2014 Innovator's Top 10 New Product Award from OEM Off-Highway magazine. Curtis was honored for its John Deere Gator 825i S4 HPX/XUV cab system.

Phillip D. Zamore, a professor of biochemistry and molecular pharmacology at UMass Medical School, was named a 2014 Fellow by the National Academy of Inventors for his work with RNA interference. He's also co-director of the RNA Therapeutics Institute.

Hanover Insurance, based in Worcester, was added to the Mass. Mentoring Partnership Mentoring Honor Roll, nominated by Big Brother Big Sister of Central Mass./MetroWest. Hanover employees volunteer at Worcester Arts Magnet School, and offer resources and financial support to the nonprofit.

Clinton Savings Bank's marketing team and its advertising agency, McDougall & Duval, were awarded top honors at The New England Financial Marketing Association and The Warren Group's Best in Marketing Awards. CSB's Champions Program earned top awards.

JM Coull, a Maynard construction management and general contracting firm, earned two awards from Engineering News-Record for its E Ink Innovation Center project in Billerica.
