AbbVie pays Marlborough company in patent infringement settlement

Biopharmaceutical company AbbVie will pay Marlborough beauty equipment company BTL Aesthetics, as part of a settlement over alleged patent infringement, according to a Tuesday press release.

Details of the agreement are confidential, and AbbVie’s exact payment amount was undisclosed. 

BTL’s infringement claims against AbbVie are related to muscle stimulation technology, per the release.

BTL offers skin tightening and facelift services, and has 1,900 employees located in more than 58 countries, according to its website.

Headquartered in Illinois, AbbVie employs more than 1,300 workers in Worcester, with operations on Plantation Street and Belmont Street.
