Abbott Lands FDA Nod For Kidney Treatment

Illinois-based Abbott Laboratories, which has operations in Worcester, has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for a treatment for renal artery disease.
The FDA approved Abbott's RX Herculink Elite Renal Stent System, which helps treat people suffering from renal artery stenosis, or the narrowing of the main arteries supplying blood to the kidneys.
The approval was granted based on a study that was conducted in part at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Abbott employs nearly 90,000 people worldwide and markets its products in more than 130 countries.
