Waltham-based battery maker A123 Systems Inc., which has operations in Westborough and Hopkinton, will be supplying its electric vehicle batteries to General Motors, the auto manufacturer announced.
GM did not announce the contract's value, nor did it specify the make and model of electric vehicle for which A123 would supply its lithium ion batteries. But analyst Michael Lew of Needham & Co. said in a report Friday that he believes the contract could be for an electric Cadillac.
Greencarreports.com cited a GM insider in a report this week that GM has revived plans for the Cadillac Converj, a luxury coupe.
A123's batteries are already in several other electric vehicles, including the Fisker Karma, a luxury vehicle due out later this year.
