It is with great pride that the Worcester Business Journal introduces its 2nd Annual Women in Business Award winners. Below you’ll find links to stories and insights from six outstanding local women who have built successful careers and proved their leadership skills.
Our six honorees for this special issue were selected out of a competitive field of nominations from the community. It was no easy task narrowing the field to the six you’ll read about on the following pages. We were helped by our panel of judges: Patricia L. Jones, owner of the Worcester-based accounting firm P.L. Jones & Associates and a 2009 Women in Business honoree; Allison R. Lane, attorney with Fletcher, Tilton & Whipple of Worcester and a 2005 WBJ 40 Under Forty honoree; and Liana P. Moore, an attorney with Bowditch & Dewey of Worcester and a 2009 40 Under Forty honoree.
The group of six women that we selected represent a broad range of industries—from nonprofits to construction to law—and have steadily climbed the ranks within their chosen fields. Their stories, told on the following pages in their own words, will no doubt impress and inspire.
Special thanks to photographer Edd Cote, who took stunning portraits of the honorees.
