Colleagues & friends,
It’s been a rough two weeks. The coronavirus went from a persistent news item to an issue invading our lives at every level, as well as our businesses and our community. Every crisis feels fresh and scary, and this too feels like an unprecedented time. Uncertainty remains, yet when it comes to covering the impact of the current crisis on our region’s economy, WBJ is here for you.
As the fallout from the virus has descended on Central Massachusetts, everyone at Worcester Business Journal has remained laser-focused on our core mission: To provide you with solid reporting on our region’s economy and access to information helping you navigate the challenges yet to come. Our newsroom has been working tirelessly to provide you with up-to-the-minute news, and we’ll point small business owners in the right direction as more resources and aid become available.
And we know you’re thirsty for news. Traffic on our website, WBJournal.com, has reached record levels in the last two weeks and shows no sign of slowing down. As a service to the entire business community, we have taken down WBJ’s paywall and made our content free to all readers.
This crisis has impacted us, too. Thanks to the technology tools we have in place, employees are largely working from home, as our Shrewsbury Street office is operating with minimal staffing. We’re capable of producing all of our digital and print products working remotely. We’re grateful to our hard-working staff who have embraced the adjustment on the fly.
Knowing many of you are also working from your home offices, and therefore may not have access to your copy of WBJ’s print edition typically delivered to your workplace, we’ve made all our print content available online. You can find it under the “Editions” tab on WBJournal.com. You also can follow this link to view the digital edition of the magazine. It looks just like the physical publication, but in an easy-to-use digital format. If you’re a registered subscriber, you can switch to home delivery via your account page on WBJournal.com, or by reaching out to the circulation support team at 845-267-3008 or wbjournal@cambeywest.com.
Lastly, we miss seeing you! WBJ’s holds a large number of events year round, where thousands of folks join us for our Business Leader of the Year dinner, Manufacturing Awards and our annual Health Care Forum, just to name a few. Needless to say, we have postponed our events scheduled for this Spring until the coast is clear. Once we all come out the other side of this pandemic, it’s going to be a lot of fun to gather and shake hands again!
Until that time, we urge you and everyone in your organization to stay safe and informed.
- Peter Stanton & Brad Kane, WBJ publisher & editor
