$823K in agriculture grants awarded

Nearly $825,000 in grant funds will be infused into the Department of Agriculture (DEA) to help advance the state's agricultural economy.

The funds will go to 14 agricultural producers, two nonprofit organizations and 16 municipalities across the state as part of the Connecticut Agriculture Viability Grant program. Funding is not limited to producers. Nonprofit organizations and municipalities also are eligible and may use the grants for town planning purposes, as long as the plans are agriculturally focused.

The DEA's share of the budget for each project is capped at $50,000 in matching funds. Grantees will have up to one year to complete the project, according to the terms of their contract.
