Funding to expand Capital Community College in Hartford is expected to gain approval when the state Bond Commission meets on January 25th.
The funds will allow Capital Community College, which is located at 950 Main St. in Hartford, to expand into the tenth and eleventh floors of the adjacent building at 960 Main St.
The bond funds will pay for the fit-out of the new space at a cost of $5.5 million, including new electrical and mechanical systems, full interior renovations, lighting and furniture. The new space will consist of classrooms, offices and a bookstore, totaling 40,000 square feet on two floors.
An architect and construction firm will be selected and once the design is approved, the project is expected to be completed within one year.
