55-plus housing proposed for former Milford school

A developer is proposing to renovate a vacant middle school in Milford and build 38 units of 55-plus housing on Main Street.

Local developer Kevin Lobisser has filed a special permit for the project at 45 Main St. in the former 61,000-square-foot Middle School East building.

The building, constructed in 1923, closed at the end of the 2016 school year after the town built a new elementary school and reshuffled grades.

Although the building was last assessed for nearly $4 million, Lobisser purchased the property from the town last April for $115,000.

Lobisser told town officials last year he planned to demolish part of the building and renovate the main structure for the project.
