Harrington HealthCare System’s efforts to rebuild its emergency department in Webster received a $50,000 boost from the Harrington Auxiliary, the system announced.
The donation has pushed the amount raised for the project to nearly $775,000. A matching grant from a donor has pushed that total to $1.54 million. The effort to modernize and renovate the emergency department at the Webster campus will cost $8.8 million, according to Southbridge-based Harrington.
The emergency department, which serves communities in South Central Massachusetts and Northeastern Connecticut, sees more than 12,000 patients a year but has not undergone a substantial overhaul since 1955, according to Harrington HealthCare.
