Ricky Gala, 29
Project manager
Consigli Construction Co., Inc., Worcester
Residence: Worcester
Birthplace: Milford
College: Worcester Polytechnic Institute
Gala has already been promoted twice at Consigli since he started seven years ago as a project engineer. Now as project manager, he’s the main point of contact at the company for owners and architects throughout the construction process. One of those projects was a $54-million addition onto Milford Regional Medical Center, Gala’s birthplace and hometown. The project entailed a new state-of-the-art, 78,000-square-foot emergency department and intensive care unit to help the hospital increase its capacity to serve the community better. Milford Regional proved to be a turning point in Gala’s career, as staffing changes led him to be the lead project manager. He then played a pivotal role in helping the company win the $100-million patient tower project at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire and was project manager of UMass Memorial Hospital’s campus modernization project. Gala’s taken his construction expertise into his volunteer work as well, including with Working for Worcester and helping to build playgrounds and landscaped areas at Worcester schools. He has volunteered with Girls Inc. to teach young girls about the construction industry. – Profile written by Zachary Comeau
