Daniel Estevez, 30
Owner, Families Together Adult Day Health Care, Leicester
Co-founder, Synergy Wellness Center, Hudson
Residence: Worcester
Birthplace: La Vega, Dominican Republic
College: Clark University
Estevez moved to Worcester from the Dominican Republic with his family in 2001. While attending South High School in Worcester, he became one of the best junior cyclists in the nation. After a two-year stint at Lindsey Wilson College, he transferred to Clark University, where he earned a degree in business management, which helped him combine his skills with his passion for human services. He founded Families Together in 2014, which offered a medical day program to disabled adults and seniors through daily activities. The organization has grown from just three clients to now more than 60 and a staff of 16. Estevez remains close to his mother, who has been a foster parent for years for Hispanic youth in the Worcester area. He uses himself as an example of a young Hispanic man who started his own company and made a difference in people’s lives to help his mother’s foster children find their way. As a standout cyclist, Estevez was a guest of honor at the Worcester Public Library’s celebration of famous Worcester cyclist Marshall “Major” Taylor. Estevez returns home to the Dominican Republic each year to bring funds to an orphanage, hoping to build an orphanage with ties to foster support in the U.S. Fundraising begins this year. – Profile written by Zachary Comeau
