The Worcester Boys and Girls Club has received $3 million from The Francis A. and Jacquelyn H. Harrington Foundation.
The gift, and the accompanying renaming of the Boys & Girls Club's clubhouse in the city's Main South neighborhood, marks the start of a major gifts campaign by the organization. The $3 million will be given to the club over three years and will pay off the remaining $2.3 million debt on the facility, which opened in 2006.
The Harringtons were longtime supporters of the Worcester nonprofit community. The couple's sons, Francis A. Harrington Jr. and James H. Harrington, are trustees of the foundation.
The nonprofit's Main South location will be renamed The Francis A. and Jacquelyn H. Harrington Clubhouse in the spring.
