$3M Cardiac Cath Lab For Milford Regional

The Milford Regional Medical Center has added a $3 million cardiac catheterization lab to its diagnostic offerings.

The process offers a way to view the arteries that supply the heart. Doctors can use it to help diagnose the location and severity of blockages, narrowing of arteries and other heart problems. With the new addition, the hospital said it will be able to offer about 85 percent of its patients' cardiac care on site, allowing patients to stay closer to home.

Aside from its diagnostic uses, the new equipment will eventually allow doctors at the hospital to begin offering angioplasty and stent implantation. The hospital said it will take several years to prepare before it will start performing those procedures.
