Verizon Wireless‘s 3G network now includes downtown Gardner, as well as portions of Route 2 that run through the city.
The company said it has activated a new cell site that will improve voice and data service in the area.
Verizon Wireless said it has invested more than $2.8 billion in New England since 2000, including more than $242 million in 2010.
