Verizon Wireless said it has begun offering expanded 3G data coverage for Lunenburg residents, which will allow people with laptops and smartphones to experience faster download speeds.
The improved service comes from upgrades to existing cell sites in the area.
Verizon says it has invested more than $2.5 billion into its New England network over the last nine years, including more than $105 million during the first six months of 2009.
3G is the “third generation” in mobile technology that allows for streaming of voice and data simultaneously and at greater speeds than previous technology.
