Horace Mann Educational Associates (HMEA) will unveil its new, $3.3-million facility to service people with developmental disabilities in Millbury at a ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 26.
The Franklin-based organization will provide employment and day habilitation programs for 130 children and adults with disabilities at the new facility, located at 6 Latti Farm Rd., it said. The state-of-the-art facility was built by Worcester-based FW Madigan Co. Inc. and financed by Fidelity Bank. Construction was completed months ahead of schedule. Several private grants and donations were made to the HMEA to help pay for the project.
"This is an exciting opportunity to offer individuals with developmental disabilities the chance to work, learn, socialize and volunteer, and really become a part of the vibrant Millbury community," said Michael Moloney, CEO of HMEA.
Services will include on-site nursing, speech and language therapy, physical and occupational therapy, and recreational activities. HMEA's leased employment programs, previously run in Worcester and Sutton, will relocate to the new Millbury center, the organization said.
The Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce is hosting the ribbon cutting next week.
