Three Central Massachusetts nonprofit charities are among 70 throughout the eastern United States that have been awarded more than $400,000 by the charitable arm of BJ’s Wholesale Clubs.
The Westborough-based retail chain has awarded $431,000 to organizations in the areas near its stores. The money focuses on four main areas: health care, education, hunger prevention and self-sufficiency.
The three organizations in Central Massachusetts and the amounts they received, are:
- Boys & Girls Club of MetroWest, of Marlborough: $7,500;
- Worcester Community Action Council: $5,000; and
- Seven Hills Behavioral Health, of Worcester: $2,500.
“We take pride in being able to give back through our foundation,” said Jessica Newman, the foundation’s executive director, said in a statement. “It’s an important part of our company’s culture.”
