A concept restaurant in Shrewsbury from Bertucci's called 2ovens has closed as part of the Northborough chain's bankruptcy filing.
2ovens opened at Shrewsbury's White City Shopping Center in 2012 as Bertucci's first concept location. Two brick ovens that were handmade in Italy were the restaurant's only method of cooking, with one set aside for pizzas made in less than three minutes and another for meats, fish and vegetables.
The menu was also designed more for sharing and the restaurant was arranged with large communal tables.
The Shrewsbury location was set out to be the first 2ovens location of what was planned to be several, but none others opened.
Bertucci's, which is based in Northborough, announced Monday it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The chain, which has 59 locations across the Northeast, listed debts of $119 million.
Bertucci's has Central Massachusetts locations in Westborough, Marlborough, Holliston and Framingham.
The company said in a statement it is working to transfer employees from closed locations to others in the area or to help them find employment at other local restaurants where possible.
