$2M In SBA Disaster Loans Available

Small businesses in Worcester County and two other Massachusetts counties have until the end of the month to apply for disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration as a result of damaging storms that hit the area last summer.

The storms brought excessive rain and high winds between July 23 and Aug. 31 last year and primarily impacted Rhode Island. But Worcester, Bristol and Norfolk Counties are contiguous to counties in Rhode Island that suffered the most damage and are therefore eligible for relief.

The SBA said small businesses and most nonprofit organizations affected by the storms are eligible for up to $2 million in loans that carry a 4 percent interest rate and may be paid back over 30 years.

Interested businesses must apply for the loans by Aug. 31.
