Since stepping into her CEO position at SMOC in 2021, Gentili has set all systems go to provide supportive services and housing assistance to those whose needs have fallen through the cracks.
She and SMOC have initiated three massive housing projects. In February 2024, the nonprofit completed a permanent supportive housing project, which houses 16 formerly homeless individuals, and another will house 18 studio units once completed this summer. The ventures totalled $9.66 million.
Using the nonprofits revenue, which reached $169.34 million in fiscal 2024, Gentili is leading SMOC in purchasing a former hotel in North Worcester County, currently being used as an emergency shelter, with the intention of redeveloping half of it into permanent supportive housing. The renovations will add to the organizations more than 1,000 units of permanent housing throughout the region.
In 2024, Gentili oversaw the service of 43,364 individuals, including providing emergency shelter to 3,785, transitioning 2,453 from emergency to permanent housing, delivering domestic and sexual violence supportive services to 1,814 people, and securing $2.11 million in tax refunds for free to 555.Â
