Career highlights: My most notable accomplishment would have to be where I stand today. My father asked me about 18 years ago if I would join him if he started a company and I gladly promised that I would. I continued on through college and took some small professional jobs soon after. Now we stand side by side, with a 12-year-old thriving agency, and my 10 years complete. We have taken a very small idea and turned it into a multimillion dollar enterprise with hundreds of accounts, all while remaining father and son, as well as best friends.
Community involvement: When I am not on the road or in the office, you can find me on call for the Brookfield Fire/EMS Department. When I moved to Brookfield, I figured I could get involved in my new community, meet new people and have a great time. I was taken by surprise in all the wonderful things we do for the community outside of the fire and medical emergencies.
Biggest success: In 2012, my company began the transition from a mom-and-pop operation to a self-sustaining agency. This allowed me the opportunity to take over more accounts, trainings, employment decisions, and learn all the books from the administrative side. That doesn’t sound like too much, but factor in the account, training, administrative, marketing, and operations for the rest of the staff and you have quite a job description.
Biggest challenge: I would say my biggest challenge moving forward is the integration of our agency and our clients. This will bring a more hands-on approach to what our members need and want. This cuts costs, eliminates time errors and allows us to work at a more seamless level.
Mentors: In both my personal life and my professional life, I would have to split the award for best mentor between my father, Mike Steuer Sr., who raised and helped me to be the man I am. Thank you Dad! And of course my wife, Cristal, who has helped me along the path to success. Thank you Cris! Both have shown me that strength, bravery, family and love can conquer all.
Hidden talents: I used to play the trumpet. I went on to play in my high school and college marching bands, totaling eight years.
