SUPERVISOR OF PROGRAM REPRESENTATIVES, RCAP Solutions Inc.
Company location: Gardner
Residence: Gardner
Favorite movies: "Braveheart," "Young Guns," "The Notebook"
Favorite book: I love variety!! Whatever I pick up is my favorite of the day!!
Career highlights: My career began as an entry-level temp and has now brought me to supervising staff in a department that oversees more than 2,000 housing vouchers. Despite being tasked with what can be a sometimes thankless job, my staff and I show each client professionalism and dignity, even though it can be a challenge due to the difficulties and adversity they face.
Community involvement: I enjoy volunteering with the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. I also have a strong passion for bringing awareness to the National Bone Marrow Registry, in which a simple cheek swab can save a life.
Biggest success: I have a knack for numbers and thrive on staying on top of ever-changing housing program regulations. I consistently test highly on assisted-housing certification exams.
Personally, my family and I held a successful American Red Cross blood drive in my home town of Gardner. We hosted the event in my son's name, and drew more than 200 donors.
Biggest challenge: Balancing a family and a career. I have four wonderful children and my oldest son suffers from leukemia. Diagnosed at 5, he has endured many years of treatments, but had a successful bone marrow transplant in February and is doing very well.
Mentors: I've been lucky to have had many wonderful mentors in my 10 years at RCAP Solutions. My family has also been a tremendous influence to me. In some ways I feel that I'm my own mentor, having had to learn and grow with the changes that have surrounded me both at work and at home.
Hidden talent: I'm a wealth of useless information, from housing regulations to pop culture.
