DIRECTOR OF MARKETING, Centage Corp.
Company location: Natick
Residence: Hopkinton
Favorite movie: "Field of Dreams"
Career highlights: My biggest accomplishment is the ability to succeed quickly while balancing family, career and life as a single mom — while always putting my two boys (ages 7 and 5) first. Second, "in my spare time" I created and developed Good Gear, an eco-friendly sporting apparel company. I wanted to know what it was like to start a business, so I did! I just didn't expect it to work or take off so quickly! In 2011, I sold Good Gear for a profit.
Community involvement: I am a huge supporter of First Descents, an organization that conducts outdoor adventures for teenage cancer survivors, as well as the Ellie Fund, an organization that fights breast cancer and eases its effects on families by providing transportation to medical appointments, childcare, housekeeping, groceries and nutritious prepared/delivered meals free of charge.
Biggest success: The ability to succeed while balancing my life as a single mom. I love to work but I love my boys as well. I've been fortunate to work for some remarkable companies and management who truly appreciate the 2012 working mom!
Biggest challenge: I would also say this is my biggest challenge. Balancing work, life, kids, family, friends and a social life is not always easy. I also need time to myself. That is where I lose out the most. I also coach both of my boys' soccer teams.
Mentors: Professionally, Steve Harrington, who I worked for the longest. He was an incredible teacher and gave me the freedom I needed to learn, grow and make mistakes. Personally, my parents, Ellen and Peter Mundy, especially my mom, who taught me to always work hard, and that if I work hard, I can achieve anything.
Hidden talent: Great dancer, fantastic at Wii Mario Kart and excellent athlete.
