VICE PRESIDENT, FINANCE, AllCom Credit Union
Company location: Worcester
Residence: Barre
Favorite movie: Tough one, but I'd have to go with " The Boondock Saints"
Age: 28
Career highlights: I didn’t succeed at my first attempt to get my college degree and worked some odd jobs in the meantime. After experiencing the real world, I decided I needed to return to school. Worcester State was a great experience and during one of my classes an opportunity for a part-time job was presented. I applied to be the accounting assistant here at AllCom and was lucky enough to get the job. Since then, I’ve had the good fortune to be able to work my way up to my current position.
Community involvement: I’ve participated, through AllCom, in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program for the past three years as a tax preparer at credit union’s Plumley Village site. I have also volunteered at charity events for Veterans Inc. and New Hope, an organization that works to end domestic and sexual violence.
Biggest success: I think my biggest success professionally has been the completion of my master’s degree while working full time. The coursework was very time consuming and maintaining a high quality of work for my job while earning good grades from school was one of the most difficult things I’ve had to do.
Biggest challenge: My biggest challenge professionally has been my lack of experience. As a result of my roundabout route to my college degree, I didn’t begin my professional career until I was almost 25. I really feel as though the years I missed at the beginning of my career would have made my learning curve the past couple of years a lot less steep. Still, I don’t know if I would trade the life experience I gained during that time.
Mentor: My mother is the biggest reason I am where I am today. Watching her simultaneously work full time, earn her college degree and raise three kids as a single mother made a lasting impression on me.
Hidden talents: I can wiggle my ears, although I don’t know if that is actually a talent. I can also juggle badly.
