2010 40 Under Forty: Molly Brodeur-Nesbitt

Chief Operating Officer, Al Brodeur’s Auto Body

Company location: Marlborough

Residence: Marlborough

Career highlights: I began my professional career in media working for CBS Radio. I had the great fortune of producing remote broadcasts from the Republican and Democratic National Conventions in 2000, The Boston Marathon for six consecutive years, Sail Boston, and the Baseball Hall of Fame induction of Carlton Fisk. I ended my career in radio as a commercial producer — assembling and creating on-air ad content. I came to work for my family’s small business, Al Brodeur’s Auto Body, in October 2006 and am now the COO. Upon my father’s retirement, I will become the CEO.

Community involvement: I serve as treasurer of the statewide association Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of Massachusetts (AASP-MA). The AASP-MA Midstate Chapter holds an annual tool scholarship fundraiser for graduating seniors enrolled in collision programs at participating technical high schools. Education is the key to success in this industry, and with a shortage of qualified technicians entering the auto collision trade, supporting the existing collision programs is of great importance. I am also a member of the Richer School Council.

Biggest success: My biggest success has been integrating myself into a predominantly male industry. I am proud to be a woman working in the automotive industry and I feel honored to be in a position to continue my father’s legacy.

Mentors: My father is my mentor. He has taught me the value of doing the right thing and working hard for what you want. His unconditional love and support has allowed me to grow and reach the point personally and professionally where I was ready to come to work for him.

Hidden talents: I can memorize song titles, artists and lyrics very quickly. I also love event planning and could organize a large event with a moment’s notice.
