$200K Available For Electric Car Charging Stations

The state is hoping to install between 80 and 100 electric vehicle charging stations across Massachusetts as part of a new grant program for cities and towns.

The state is using $200,000 from the settlement of a 2007 lawsuit with an Ohio power company to pay for the project.

All cities and towns have two months to apply for the funds, but preference will be given to the 35 “Green Communities,” as designated by the state.

State Energy and Environmental Affairs Sec. Ian Bowles announced the program at the electric vehicle summit and workshop in Lowell yesterday.
