Career highlights:
I am the vice president of finance and part owner of Aimtek Inc. I started off doing general office work at the age of 14, and I worked my way up the ladder ever since. Aimtek supplies bulk and specialty lab gases to life science and high-technology companies in the New England area. Aimtek is also a value-added distributor of precious metals, welding wires and welding supplies to the aerospace and heavy manufacturing industries in more than 43 states nationwide and 28 countries worldwide.
Community involvement:
This will be my first elected term as an auditor for my church, Armenian Church of Our Savior. I was also a sunday school teacher, and a volunteer for the India Society of Worcester. I also am very heavily involved with the World Wildlife Fund and the environmental issues that we face today. It gives me great satisfaction to be able to pass along my areas of expertise to these organizations.
Biggest professional success:
Five years ago, our company made an acquisition of an FAA-certified overhaul & repair shop, Atech Turbine Components Inc., which repairs aircraft turbine engine components for companies worldwide. I feel that my role in this company helped turn it around to be our most profitable subsidiary of our parent company today.
Dream job:
My ultimate dream job is to be an Academy Award-winning Actress.
Businessperson you admire most:
I would have to say that my father is. I did not have half the struggles that he has had. He brought himself to this country with not much in his pockets, educated himself and his entire family, and started a business 35 years ago.
If you weren’t doing the job you’re doing now, what would you do?
Since I have been with the company since I was 14, it is hard to imagine anything else. I would always be in the capacity of an owner. I know that I can excel at whatever I do, so I might as well reap the benefits.
Favorite movie:
“The Lord of the Rings” trilogy.
If you were stuck on a desert island what book would you want to have with you?
The Bible. I always wanted to read it and master it so no better time to do so.
