2 Firms Win Grants From MassVentures

MassVentures, a quasi-public venture capital company, announced $2 million in grants for 15 Bay State firms, including two in Central Massachusetts.

Marlborough-based Intrinsix, which designs mixed-signal integrated circuits and is preparing to enter the multi-spectral imaging solutions market, will receive $100,000 under stage one of MassVentures’ START initiative.

Littleton-based mZeal Communications, which makes cyber-security tools for network infrastructure and industrial enterprises, will receive an identical grant.

The START program helps growing companies commercialize technologies developed under federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants and Small Business Technology Transfer contracts.

MassVentures has invested in several Central Massachusetts companies, including Content Raven of Marlborough and Southborough-based uTest.
