15-40 Connection of Westborough, a national education and advocacy nonprofit teaching people how to detect cancer earlier, is rebranding as DetecTogether and expanding its work to people of all ages, the organization announced on Thursday.
“We set out to do our part to reduce the toll that cancer takes. We knew we could save lives by teaching people how to detect cancer early,” Cofounder Jim Coghlin said in a statement. “While we initially focused on raising awareness among 15-40 year-olds, we have learned over the past decade that all people need this life-saving information.”
DetecTogether distributes its training to high schools, colleges, community groups, organizations and workplaces throughout New England and beyond, according to a press release.
“Our mission has grown bigger than what our name reflected, so we set out to create a new name that would be simple and self-evident,” said Tricia Laursen, DetecTogether president and executive director, in a statement. “We are tremendously excited for the next generation of this life-saving work.”
The rebrand includes a new website and a live virtual event slated for Jan. 30.
