$125,000 Available For GLBT Causes

The Greater Worcester Community Foundation is offering $125,000 in grants for initiatives to help gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people in the region.

The grants will be the first from the GLBT Partnership Fund. The foundation created the fund through a challenge grant from New York-based Funders for Lesbian and Gay Issues. So far, it said, it has raised 75 percent of its $200,000 goal.

The foundation will distribute grants of $2,500 to $25,000 for projects involving art, education, community development, the environment, health and human services. Applications are due by Nov. 17, and the foundation will hold an information session for interested nonprofits on Aug. 20.
