Worcester County had a reported six new coronavirus-related deaths Tuesday and 118 new cases. Those new numbers from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health put those respective totals at 57 and 2,246.
The city of Worcester reported 868 total cases, a one-day increase of 153, or 21%, by far its largest single-day increase yet.
Saint Vincent Hospital and UMass Memorial Health Care have had 200 total positive inpatient cases and 80 total intensive-care patients. The two hospital networks have had 33 total coronavirus-related deaths. A total of 104 of their employees have tested positive.
Massachusetts has a new reported total of 28,163 cases and 957 deaths. Those numbers are up in one day by 1,296 and 113, respectively.
The case total for Worcester County rose in one day by 6%, while the statewide total rose 5%.
Tuesday's newly announced deaths for Worcester County includes the youngest yet, a woman in her 30s with unknown pre-existing conditions. The others were a man and a woman in their 70s, both with pre-existing conditions, and three others with unknown pre-existing conditions: a man in his 70s, a man in his 80s and a woman in her 90s.
The Department of Public Health also reported 4,502 new tests conducted statewide for a total of 126,551.
Coronavirus cases nationally were nearing 600,000 late Tuesday afternoon, with over 25,000 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. Worldwide, cases were nearing 2 million, with more than 125,000 deaths.
