Whether your company is large or small, whether you're coming off a great corporate success or colossal business misstep, it's good to know ways to ramp things up and show customers and clients you're innovative and forward moving. Here are three ways you can gain some perspective, light a fire under your business, and perpetuate growth and profit.
Destroy what you do. You read that right. Branding-wise, it's smart to never rest on past glory for too long. “In fact, some of these companies devote entire departments to the task of destroying. They call these departments skunk works,” Neil Patel said in an article at GeekWire.com. Brands are always looking for ways to expand their markets and resonate with more people.
Stop doing everything yourself. “Often we spend more time working in our business rather than on it,” points out an article by Deb Pilgrim at DynamicBusiness.com. It pays to step back and take an honest look at the business as a whole. “It is time to start thinking, 'Am I the person that really needs to XYZ?' (XYZ being the many things you spend your time on each day that aren't profit making),'” she writes.
Find an amazing accountant. Then, hire him or her on the spot, says an article by Jamilah Warner at SmallBizTrends.com. “A good accountant can help you discover room for improvement, including cost-cutting solutions that you can implement now as well as reviewing and fine-tuning your financial systems,” the article states. Great accounting can save you time and money, and improve your company's financial picture year round, even for small companies.
