You may think organizing is magic. In reality, getting organized and operating in an efficient manner is a skill that anyone can learn. Here are some key points to getting your business organized:
Set goals and look at why you want to change your current situation. What productive activities are the piles and chaos interfering with? Begin with a vision so you can define parameters for what should stay and go.
Look at your office space and create areas for each major activity. Store supplies in their proper activity area. This format makes finding homes for items very easy (i.e., supply corner has paper, pens, printed materials, etc.).
As you sort and purge ask the hard questions. Why am I keeping this? Is it necessary and does it add value to my work? Divide piles into keep, donate and trash.
