10. Complete your profile.
Instagram is the best place to leave a first impression. The place to define what your business is, what you do and how people can find you. Leave a link to your Facebook page or website and your business address. If you intrigue them, they'll want to know more about you.
9. Find your customers.
Search for people already talking about your business or field. Find people in your city (#Worcester) or that share your interest (#Antiques). These are your potential customers. Follow and engage them.
8. Captions count.
They make you stand out and help your business's personality shine through. Keep them short and funny, and use one or two appropriate hashtags.
7. Use your location.
If you're selling items, select a location where your items are sold! Many businesses forget to use this tool, which is too bad because it launches a map with directions to bring people to your door.
6. Be consistent but not spammy.
Post frequently, but not too frequently. Consistency keeps your followers engaged. Depending on the type of business you run, two to three posts a day is a good limit. If you have quality material, share it — just spread it out!
5. Keep it creative.
t's not enough to post a picture. Post a pretty, inspiring, bold, funky picture.
4. Be unique.
Showcase what no one else can. Give your followers a behind-the-scenes look into the daily workings of your business. Document your work, show off your quirky moments, tell your story.
3. Keep it professional.
Your business page should only be for business photos. Save the photos of your food and cats for your personal page.
2. Be the expert.
People “follow" because they want more information about products and services. This gives you the chance to be a resource for your customers by giving them information they need. Teach them something new and gain more followers.
1. Be engaging.
Respond to questions and comments. Everyone likes to be heard, so let your customers know you hear them.
