10. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION

Look at your current location and decide if where you are moving to is better. Is there more foot traffic? Is there better parking? Consider all pros and cons.

9. REGISTER YOUR BUSINESS

Register with the town or city hall and be sure to update your address for mailing, banking and legal purposes.

8. ASK FOR HELP

When it's time to relocate, the more hands helping, the better. Recruit family, friends and employees to take on the laborious task of moving. You will not believe how much stuff you have!

7. STAY ORGANIZED

When you move, pack all your administrative items together and in order. It will be easier to get back to work right away if you're organized.

6. MINIMIZE OVERLAP TIME

Move as swiftly as possible. Loyal and new clients may need your services quickly, and you don't want to lose them.

5. LIGHTS ON!

Call your electric company, your phone and Internet service provider and your heating company as soon as you decide to move. It may take days or even weeks to transfer telephone lines, or get your web service up and running.

4. AESTHETICS

Take time to design your new space. You and your clients will appreciate your new location even more if it's aesthetically pleasing.

3. USE SOCIAL MEDIA

Use social media to keep your clients interested and up to date on your progress! They will enjoy staying informed and getting a sneak peek at your new location.

2. MAKE IT A GRAND AFFAIR

Have a grand opening! Celebrate your new location with a night of food and entertainment. Having a grand opening is one of the best ways to show off your new digs, boost sales and meet new clients.

1. KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON

Expect the unexpected during your transition time. You may run into a few snags here and there, but don't get discouraged.
