Worcester YWCA eyes $23M renovation

YWCA of Central Massachusetts has kicked off a capital campaign to raise funds for a $23.4-million renovation project of its downtown Worcester facility.

The organization launched its $7.5-million campaign at its 132nd annual meeting on Tuesday.

The building has only had one partial renovation done since it was built in 1961, the organization said in a news release. Renovations will seek to correct problems with infrastructure systems, security improvements and optimizing the current space in the 74,000-square-foot building.

Additional improvements will be made to the site’s traffic flow and playgrounds.

The campaign is being spearheaded by four people: Christie Bik, Susan Mailman Sue Woodbury and Meredith Wesby.
