Americans are building more big homes with more bedrooms than ever before, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
The bureau released results of an analysis that found 20 percent of occupied homes in 2005 had four or more bedrooms.
In 2000, 17.7 percent could make that claim.
States with the largest homes when it comes to the number of bedrooms were Utah, Maryland, Colorado, Delaware, Minnesota, North Dakota and Virginia.
Cities with the greatest percentage of large homes in 2005 were Sandy, Utah; Sugar Land, Texas; and Naperville, Ill.
The bureau’s analysis also found the most common type of housing to be single family homes, followed by apartment buildings with 10 or more units, mobile homes and townhouses.
