According to the U.S. Department of Labor, 322,000 Americans filed for unemployment benefits for the first time during the week ending Aug. 11, an increase of 6,000 from the previous week.
The department’s seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.9 percent or 2,567,000 for the week ending Aug. 4. Those totals were unchanged from the previous week.
