WBJ Talk Back in the September 1, 2009 Issue

“If Realtors think their business has been negatively impacted by the Home Valuation Code of Conduct, they have no idea what it has done to the local appraisal business. A new appraisal business, Minuteman Realty Services Inc., located on Park Ave in Worcester opened a year ago and is now out of business due to the code.”

Peter Gorman of Minuteman Realty, on an article about new federal appraisal rules that are aimed at cleaning up the appraisal business, but that have been widely criticized.

“This story is just another example of a fine…Massachusetts company being forced to find alternative labor and pricing and building in China. If our current administration, both local and federal had a real ‘alternative energy’ plan instead of smoke and mirrors, they would demand that monies be made available to keep this and other companies local.”

Michael A. Brown on a story in the WBJ about the struggles of Marlborough-based Evergreen Solar to stay competitive while manufacturing in the United States.

“My prediction is that despite many of my clients’ rejection of the social networking sites for ANY purposes, social networking is the new green, and more companies will use them for recruitment and selling their goods and services, but not for serious discussion forums like this one.”
