BURY BLACK FRIDAY?
In response to our online poll the week of Nov. 26, we received this rather emphatic negative comment on using “Black Friday” to describe the official start of the holiday shopping season:
Too bad that the ridiculous name “Black Friday” hangs over the Thanksgiving holiday. It’s ominous. Why should we be trying to create profits for stores so that they are in the black? Is holiday giving only about bargains?

Then there was this comment on a colorful local twist to holiday shopping:
I shopped Plaid Friday here in Worcester. Nice to be able to support local small businesses and avoid the malls!
