DROP IN CITY HOME VALUES
An online story about a drop in home prices in Worcester from September 2010 to September 2011 led a commenter to wonder why the values aren’t reflected in property tax bills:
“When is the city government going to reflect this consistent drop in their valuation of homes instead of strong-arming the citizenry into higher taxes (by toying with the “rate per thousand”), regardless of both house value reduction as well as the terrible state of the economy?”
