The Central Mass. Economic Forecast & Real Estate Forum on Thursday will be keynoted by Shruti Mishra, a U.S. economist at Bank of America.
The annual event held by Worcester Business Journal and the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce is designed to help business leaders navigate anticipated ups and downs in the local, national, and global economies for the next year. This year’s event is anchored by Mishra’s keynote and panel discussions on the regional economy and real estate.

Mishra’s focus is on analyzing the labor market and GDP outlook. She regularly contributes to the “BofA on USA” card data report and has appeared on CNBC, CNN, Bloomberg, Yahoo Finance, and Financial Times. She has a Ph.D. in economics from Columbia University in New York City, with a specialization in macroeconomics and finance.
The first panel discussion will focus on the Central Massachusetts economic climate. The panelists are Justin Precourt, president of UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester; Brooke Thomson, president & CEO of the statewide advocacy group Associated Industries of Massachusetts; and Darnell Dunn, director of business recruitment at the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce.
The second panel will be an in-depth discussion of the region’s real estate landscape. The panelist include Joshua Lee Smith, partner at Worcester law firm Bowditch & Dewey; Jim Umphrey, president of Worcester real estate brokerage Kelleher & Sadowsky Associates; and Jackson Restrepo, founding partner of Restrepo Properties in Worcester.
