Warner Fletcher: Partner, Fletcher Tilton, Worcester

Warner Fletcher’s heart is in the community, and his hands are on his checkbook. In charge of, or influential to, many of the region’s largest charitable foundations, he and law partner Tony Tilton have been the men to see if any big project is to get off the ground in Worcester. “Philanthropy is managed by a tight circle of insiders in Worcester,” The Boston Globe reported in 2003, with Warner Fletcher in the middle of that circle.

A gentleman’s gentleman, Fletcher’s power and influence extend well beyond his firm’s offices in the downtown Guaranty Building. He serves as a trustee of numerous private family foundations and non-profit organizations, which includes the chairmanship of the board at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Fletcher is the son of influential attorney Paris Fletcher, the brother of former Worcester Magazine owner Allen Fletcher (who is also a previous owner of the WBJ), and a descendant of the Stoddard family, which owned Wyman-Gordon Company, the Telegram & Gazette, WTAG/580 AM and WSRS/96.1 FM. His firm runs the $63-million Stoddard Charitable Trust.
