VulcanForms has hired Jeff Hemenway as chief revenue officer, bringing in an advanced-manufacturing sales executive as the company pursues a major Devens expansion and looks to turn its growing production capacity into long-term customer contracts.
Hemenway, whose appointment took effect immediately, will lead the company’s global commercial strategy and growth efforts, according to a company announcement last week. His responsibilities include expanding customer partnerships and market adoption for VulcanForms’ metal manufacturing platform.
Hemenway’s hiring comes as VulcanForms seeks to scale beyond its existing manufacturing footprint.
The company has received $21.26 million in state tax credits to support construction of an advanced-manufacturing facility of up to 1 million square feet in Devens. The project is expected to create 1,063 jobs, according to a Massachusetts Economic Assistance Coordinating Council announcement in June.
VulcanForms makes complex metal components using additive manufacturing, machining and validation processes. Its customers span medical, aerospace, defense, industrial and consumer-product markets. The company was founded in 2015 by MIT mechanical engineering professor John Hart and Martin Feldmann.
Hemenway most recently served as vice president of sales at Hadrian, a California advanced-manufacturing company serving aerospace and public-sector markets. He previously was senior vice president of global industry sales at Stratasys, a 3D-printing company, according to VulcanForms. He has more than 35 years of commercial leadership experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, medical and advanced-manufacturing industries.
The appointment follows the January close of a $220 million financing round, which VulcanForms said would help it expand manufacturing facilities and research and development. The company has raised at least $575 million since its launch, including a $250 million funding round in 2022.
In July, VulcanForms named Matthew Rose, a former Department of Defense official and U.S. Army officer, as executive vice president of mission systems.
