Massachusetts companies won $1.1 billion in venture capital funding in the second quarter of the year, much more than they’ve made in any of the previous four quarters, according to tracking company CB Insights.
VC funding in the state has been on the rise since hitting $466 million in the third quarter of 2010.
The funding was spread over 89 deals. More than half the money went to the health care industry, and nearly a quarter to Internet companies.
Nationwide, VC firms provided $7.6 billion over 768 deals in the quarter, a nine-quarter high.
