With the support of a Hopedale-based private equity firm, Sterling-based life safety manufacturer Space Age Electronics has acquired Indiana-based SprinkGuard.
A manufacturer of specialty fire sprinkler head protectors used in warehouses, distribution centers, and other facilities, SprinkGuard adds to Space Age Electronics’ fire safety offerings and will allow the firm to offer SprinkGuard’s products to more than 1,000 fire system integrators across the country, according to a Tuesday company announcement.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Space Age Electronics is owned by DelCam Capital in Hopledale. DelCam focuses on acquiring family-owned and founder-led manufacturing businesses with between $500,000 to $5,000,000 in EBITDA, according to the firm’s website.
Stephen Trotta, managing partner of DelCam Capital, said in the announcement recurring demand, strong regulatory drivers, and the importance of fire safety technology across industries made SprinkGuard an attractive investment.
The fire and life safety industry was valued at $13 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow to $18 billion by 2029, according to Security Sales & Integration, with growth and steady revenue streams fueling investor interest in the space.
Other companies part of DelCam’s portfolio include Leominster-based New England Fabricated Metals and Hopedale-based PlasTech Molding. DelCam says its goal is to accelerate growth at acquired firms while also implementing employee investment and workforce development programs.
SprinkGuard was founded in 2009 after CEO Matt Hunsberger saw a soccer ball break an unprotected sprinkler head, which flooded a college gymnasium and led to months of costly repairs, according to the firm’s website.
