State provides $1M for four Central Mass. manufacturers to upgrade equipment

Four Central Massachusetts businesses have received a total of $1.06 million for equipment upgrades from the state’s Center for Advanced Manufacturing as part of its Massachusetts Manufacturing Accelerator Program.

Launched in 2022, MMAP provides funding for equipment and training at small and midsized manufacturers.

The four Central Massachusetts receiving funding are: 

• Broomfield Laboratories – A Leominster-based designer and manufacturer of coil winding machines and custom tooling. Broomfield received a grant of $300,000.
• Industrial Packaging Supply – A Webster-based manufacturer of food storage and consumer products packaging. IPS received a grant of $161,861. 
• Mach Machine – A Hudson-based CNC machining and mechanical engineering facility. Mach Machine received a grant of $300,000. 
• Phillips Precision – A Boylston-based CNC machine shop and manufacturing solutions provider. Phillips received a grant of $300,000.

Overall, MMAP is providing $4.8 million in grants to 20 companies across the state, the center announced Tuesday. This year’s program reduced its match requirement from 100% to 50% for awards up to $100,000.
