State Adds 6,700 Jobs In November

Based on the latest employment data, Massachusetts is far from a recession.

According to the state Executive Office of Labor & Workforce Development , the state added 6,700 new jobs in November and the unemployment rate during the month remained at a six year low of 4.3 percent.

The November rate is down not quite 1 percent from the 5.2 percent rate recorded last November, and is just below the country’s 4.7 percent unemployment rate.

The state said job increases were reported in most employment sectors with the largest job gains coming in the professional, scientific, business services, leisure and hospitality and construction sectors.

The manufacturing sector lost 400 jobs during November.
