St. Vincent's: Nurses Using 'Scare' Tactics

Officials from Saint Vincent Hospital issued a statement saying the hospital is prepared to provide uninterrupted service to patients if nurses vote to authorize a strike today.

In the statement, St. Vincent's officials also accuse the nurses of providing false and misleading information about the hospital and using "scare" negotiating tactics.

The vote, which is taking place by secret ballot throughout the day today, would give the Massachusetts Nurses Association's negotiating committee authorization to issue a 10-day warning notice of an impending one-day strike.

The two sides are expected to attend a negotiating session on Wednesday, April 13.

MNA spokesperson David Schildmeier said hundreds of nurses have already voted today and he expects results of the vote to be announced after 8 p.m. tonight.
